Mostly fixed in 8.2 / 8.3. Some TRENDnet cameras do not support RTSP streaming.

The version 2 beta will be released today, but will not have support for network cameras in the immediate release. We hope to finish up this portion of the code in the next couple weeks and release and update ASAP for those who want to use existing network cameras.
We will have support for Axis, ACTi and Vivotek

We support multi-part JPEG images via our API (http://support.bluecherrydvr.com/entries/20657788-version-2-api)
If you have any other questions let us know. Eventually we plan to port the client to Android, but we have too many things on our plate at the moment.
