The 'web interface' refers to a page that you can access from any web browser.

When you say web-interface.... You are meaning the Remote Desktop ? If so, I would require full access remotely to both the DVR portion and the pure xbuntu that is toggled via Alt+F7 Alt+F11

When Bad Things Happen, you need to check the video history. That's the whole point of a DVR. I could be anywhere (internet cafe, mobile, other customers, friends house) when I need to do the checking, so web access just really makes sense.

sptnickd is correct. We currently provide a Windows remote client which allows you to search previous events as well as connect to multiple DVR's. We will be adding a OSX / Linux client in the version 2 release scheduled for June.
spitnickd, You might look at running x11vnc on the :5 display and connecting that way instead of having to do the vmware thing. There's a post on the forums about running x11vnc on :5, however that limits you to one connection at a time.

To clarify, you *can* currently view past events either from the console of the DVR PC itself, or from a windows DVR client. The ability to view past events from a web interface without requiring windows and the DVR client software would be a huge benefit for me (as I'm currently having to run Windows on VMware on my MacBook Pro right now).

Um... I'm not a very bright fellow, however I was under the impression that the ability to view old video was included as a primary feature with the system. If I don't have the ability for my wife to view past events i.e. video... then, well... I'm up the creek !!:-)!!!

We have a fair number of workstations setup and it's a bit of a pain to ensure each of them that might need to access the cameras at some point have the remote client installed. If an employee happens to be at a workstation that doesn't have the remote client installed and has a reason to need to check a recent, but past, event in a hurry, they're out of luck right now.
